Bloomberg: White House Called Tether-Favored GENIUS Provision a “Red Line”
Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the negotiations, that former White House crypto adviser Bo Hines described preserving the GENIUS Act's three-year compliance grace period for foreign stablecoin issuers as a White House “red line,” saying the provision was sought by Tether. Hines joined Tether about one month after the law was signed. The report also said the final legislation included several provisions viewed as favorable to Tether, while Tether denied receiving any special advantages or engaging in improper lobbying.
