CZ on His Success as a Startup Founder: I Can't Go Back to Big Companies
On April 15, 2026, during an AMA session for his new book Freedom of Money, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) reflected on his career journey when asked. CZ participated in development work at multiple startups from an early age, and Bloomberg was the largest corporation he ever worked for.
He admitted that large companies feature rigid bureaucratic systems and fixed rules, and his personality is unsuitable for stable 9-to-5 corporate jobs, making it impossible for him to stay long-term. He stated that large companies suit those seeking stability, while he personally prefers the freedom, flexibility and fewer restrictions offered by small teams and startups.
