153 Million Driver’s License Scans Hit Dark Web, Including U.S. Defense Secretary’s A dark-web identity-theft service called Nexus claims to be selling more than 153 million U.S. and Canadian driver’s-license scans, alongside over 10 million ID cards, 3 million travel or international documents and about 579,000 medical cards, with records reportedly including a driver’s license belonging to U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. KrebsOnSecurity linked samples of the data to IDScan net, a widely used U.S. identity-verification provider that processes government IDs for businesses, while the FBI’s New Orleans field office has opened an investigation.
