Bank of Japan Raises Policy Rate by 25 Bps to 1.0% The Bank of Japan said its Policy Board voted 7–1 on June 16 to raise rates by 25 bps, lifting the target for the uncollateralized overnight call rate to around 1.0%, effective June 17. The BOJ said higher oil prices could feed through to consumer prices via corporate price pass-through, creating upside risks to underlying inflation above its 2% target. TBS NEWS DIG reported that the 1.0% policy rate marks Japan’s highest level since 1995.
