SEC to Host Roundtable on Preparations for 24-Hour Trading in U.S. Equities
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced it will host a public roundtable on September 17, 2026, at its Washington headquarters to discuss moving towards 24-hour trading in the U.S. equity markets. The discussions will cover preparations for overnight trading, operational resilience, and opportunities and challenges for expansion. SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins stated that he looks forward to aligning U.S. equity markets with continuously trading markets while balancing round-the-clock trading with investor and customer protections.
