President Trump has called for New Mexico to be renamed “New America,” sharing several altered maps on social media.
New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham rejected the idea, saying the state’s historic name “isn’t up for debate.”
Trump has previously pushed other geographic name changes, including Lake Ontario to “Lake America” and the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America.”
