IRAN FORTIFIES KHARG ISLAND AMID US THREAT
Iran has spent months strengthening defenses on Kharg Island in anticipation of a possible US operation, CNN reports. Measures include deploying additional troops, air defenses, MANPADS, and laying anti-personnel and anti-armor mines, including along potential landing zones. The island, which handles around 90% of Iran’s crude exports, is seen as a critical economic asset. US officials warn any assault would carry high risks and potential heavy casualties.
