Strategy CEO: Bitcoin Will Only Be Sold Under Two Conditions
On May 9, 2025, Strategy CEO Phong Le addressed the company's strategic pivot from a "never sell" stance to actively managing its Bitcoin holdings during an interview with CNBC.
Le expressed a "math over ideology" approach, stating that the company will only sell Bitcoin under specific conditions: first, to pay dividends for STRC (perpetual preferred stock) when it is more accretive to "Bitcoin per share" than issuing new equity; and second, for tax optimization purposes, such as capturing or deferring tax gains and losses.
