In a January 16, 2025 interview published by Abundant Mines, Block co-founder Jack Dorsey said nation-state Bitcoin reserves are good for the state but not necessarily for Bitcoin. He said Bitcoin would be a failure if it ends up just being digital gold, pointing to the white paper, which described peer-to-peer electronic cash. It would only succeed, he said, if people could use it as money in daily life and move funds without asking permission.
