WSJ’s Nick Timiraos Says Fed’s Waller Delivered Hawkish Speech, Doesn’t Rule Out Future Rate Hikes
WSJ’s Nick Timiraos described Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller’s latest speech as hawkish after Waller backed removing the Fed’s “easing bias” language and said future rate hikes can no longer be ruled out if inflation fails to improve. Waller warned that prolonged energy-driven inflation could push up inflation expectations, though he said near-term hikes remain premature.
